Youth Alliance AISI implemented the Youth Exchange “Volunteering- Citizens in Action!”. The project financed by European Commission under Youth in Action Programme.
This project, “Volunteering – Citizens in Action!” helped participants to understand that a strong volunteer ethic creates community norms of solidarity and reciprocity, and helps to build a sensitive and cohesive society.
”Volunteering – Citizens in Action!” was a multilateral youth exchange which took place in Kobuleti, Georgia. The project involved 36 youngsters coming from Georgia, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
During the project participants have shared volunteer ideas and experiences as well as learn about local, national, and international volunteer opportunities. They have communicated and built consensus, and presented their acquired knowledge to their home communities. Participants came to this exchange with very different views on community volunteering as well as very diverse social and cultural realities. They have learned how intercultural dialogue can lead to improved community standards, how volunteering benefits not only the community but also the volunteer and how voluntary activities promote active citizenship.
